About William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is perhaps the most widely read English poet and dramatist in the world.

His plays and poems have been translated into every major language, and his popularity, nearly 400 years after his death, is greater now than it was in his own lifetime.

Yet very little is known about his personal and professional life.

He was born in Stratford-on-Avon, a rural town in Warwickshire , England.

The exact date of his birth is unknown, but he was baptised in Holy Trinity Church on April 26, 1564.
